Auditions For Easton Children's Theatre's Spring Production
Auditions for Easton Children’s Theatre’s spring production will be Tuesday, January 8th and Wednesday, January 9th at 5:30PM at the Easton Middle School on Columbus Ave. Anyone age 9 to 18 may audition, no experience or preparation is necessary. Come to either audition night. The shows will be April 26, 27, and 28.
This spring’s production is a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, a hilarious comedy about four young people who get caught up in a quarrel between the Fairy Queen and King and spend a chaotic midsummer night in the forest amidst a bungling troupe of actors and a swarm of mischievous fairies and sprites. The dialogue is modernized, the plot faithful to the original. There are many fun, comedic roles in this show- Oberon, the vengeful king and Puck his prankster sidekick, Hermia and Helena who battle over their boyfriends, the beautiful fairy girls and the scary sprites that roam the woods, the “actors” who think they’re good but are actually funny because they’re so bad, and of course the majestic Queen Titania who falls in love with a donkey. If you didn’t like Shakespeare before, you will after this show.
The original play of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is required reading in the Easton schools and in many other towns. Seeing, or better yet, participating in this production is a wonderful way in which kids can familiarize themselves with the play in a non-intimidating way, which prepares them for reading the original text.
