Easton Center School Family Fun Day a Success

  • October 25, 2012

Easton Center School held a Family Fun Day event this past Sunday at Maplewood Country Day Camp.  What started out as a rainy Sunday afternoon ended with over 300 children laughing and smiling while enjoying good old fashion family fun. There was something for all members of the family to enjoy. Young acrobats tumbled in the gymnastics room while their older siblings climbed the great rock wall or participated in organized sports.  Future artists painted pumpkins donated by Flint Farm and Langwater Farm while others painted Pottery from Creative Getaway.  Moms and Dads were watching over while enjoying the treats from the bake sale.

When the sun broke through, the dance party began on the campground with Scott the Digital DJ. One mom said she has never seen her son so excited, as when he was able to turn on the siren in the Easton Police Cruiser. Children were so engaged by the firefighter and the Easton Fire Truck they were chanting "stop, drop and roll" with new dance moves.  We even saw families using the hayride donated by Flynn Farm to take family photos and capture the day. Faces were painted, clowns constructed balloon animals, and plenty of kids licked their fingers from the sticky cotton candy. Family Fun Day ended with great raffle prizes donated from many local area businesses.

What was the most wonderful thing to see was the collaboration of all the local businesses who pulled together to make this day a success. Eastern Bank led the way with a generous donation, and Papa Gino’s delivered endless pizzas along with Heather's Place supplying hot dogs with all the fixings.  Over 500 drinks were donated by Whole Foods and Shaw’s.

Volunteers included Easton Fire/Rescue and Police Departments, Evergreen Landscaping, and Lucini Bus lines each of who volunteered time and vehicles. Countless parents, grandparents and Maplewood employees also volunteered their time and efforts to help make this year's Family Fun Day one to remember.

Other local sponsors that made this day possible include Harbor One Credit Union, North Easton Savings Bank, Creative Word, and Arnolds Gymnastics.Hundreds of goods and services were provided by Dangerous Productions, America’s Best Defense, KoKo FitClub, Makeovers, Massage Envy, Subway, Wendy’s, Lowe’s, Sake, Busy Bee Jumpers, Andree Robere, Fernandes Ace Hardware, RiteAid, Maguire’s Bar and Grill, Stonebridge Café, Marios Trattoria, Walgreens, Bertucci’s, Village Toy Shop, Posh, Star Nails, White’s Bakery, Dunkin Donuts, Citizens Bank, Kidsports, Signs by Tomorrow, and Cheer Factor.
