Easton Historical Commission Holds Photography Competition

December 1st to January 3rd, 2013

Theme: Part I The Historic Beauty of Easton – This is defined as the historical treasures of Easton and may include architectural and archeological sites.

Theme: Part II The Natural Beauty of Easton – This is defined as the historical treasures of Easton as seen through its landscapes.

Theme: Part III The Beauty of Easton Through its People – Defined as the capture of a human subject in an activity or landscape as the subject is unaware.

Theme: Part IV The Bank of Easton Excellence in Photography Award – Open to advanced and professional photographers. The subject to be photographed is Queset Gardens (behind Ames Free Library).

  • All Photographs must be taken in Easton
  • Participants should reach beyond the traditional well-known sites of Easton
  • Entries accepted from December 1, 2012 to January 3, 2013

Photography competition judging is based on:

  • Artistic ability
  • Creativity of subject (beyond typical traditional sites)
  • Adherence to theme

Photographic entries can be in color or in black and white and are limited to two pictures per entrant. Each photograph must be labeled on the back with name and age of photographer, location and date of photograph. Size of submitted photos is outlined below. Photographs must be unframed, no borders, and not matted. No photo montages will be accepted.

  • Children’s Category – through and including third grate (photograph size: 5x7 only)
  • Youth/Junior Category – fourth, fifth, and sixth grades (photograph size: 5x7 only)
  • Adult/Senior Category – seventh grade to adult (photograph size: 8x10 only)
  • Professional Category – (photograph size: 8x10 only)

Photographs may be dropped off at or mailed to 475 Depot St, South Easton, MA 02375

This contest is open to Easton residents only

Winners will be announced and all photographs will be on display on January 19th at Saint Mark’s Church, 91 Center Street, North Easton, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the awards ceremony, and at later date, at the Bank of Easton. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this special event. The Easton Historical Commission recognizes and thanks the Bank of Easton for their support and sponsorship of this event.
