Casino Near Easton Could Face Competition From Rhode Island
Rhode Island voters approved adding Vegas-style table games like blackjack, roulette and craps at Twin River Casino
If the Mashpee Wampanoags build a casino in Taunton near Easton's border, it could face some stealth competition.
According to SouthCoastToday.com, by an overwhelming margin of 71 percent to 29 percent, Rhode Island voters approved adding Vegas-style table games like blackjack, roulette and craps at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I.
The vote gives Rhode Island a head start on a possible Taunton casino. The propsed compact is currently being re-negotiated after it was rejected by the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs last month.
Clyde Barrow, a casino expert at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth told SouthCoastToday.com that the loss of revenue could speed up the process in Taunton.

I'm concerned about a casino near Easton, but why would I be concerned if it faces competition from Rhode Island?
