DID YOU KNOW: Frost on the Rockery

Your weekly historical fact, courtesy of the Easton Historical Society

 

DID YOU KNOW that on August 25, 1851  Oliver Ames recorded in his diary that there is a Frost “in the lowland between here (25 Main Street) and the Methodist Meeting House”. (on the Rockery).

The Rockery did not exist in 1851. It was created in 1882 as a memorial for "North Easton's" citizens lost in the Civil War. Perhaps the editor meant frost on the Rockery's location.
