Easton College Sports Notebook:Williams High on NFL Draft List

The following Easton athletes are making a name for themselves on college football teams.

Easton's Brennan Williams is starting at right tackle for the University of North Carolina football team in his senior season, but the 6 foot, 7-inch, 310-pounder is already being projected to go high in the National Football League's 2013 Draft.

Williams is rated as one of the top 32 players expected to be in the draft on Ron Rang's NFL draft board, while nepatriotsdraft.com has him going in the second round to the New England Patriots as the 63rd selection in the spring.

After a solid 2011 season, while starting at right tackle for North Carolina, the Catholic Memorial product is expected to move up in the draft with a big senior season.

The Tar Heels will take a 2-2 into Saturday's home contest with Idaho at 3:30 p.m. North Carolina opened up the season with a win over Elon, but has lost to Wake Forest and Louisville the last two weeks before rebounding for a 27-6 win over East Carolina.

Brennan's brother, Carmen, is a red-shirt freshman linebacker for the 3-0 Ohio State State football team, while his high school teammate at Catholic Memorial, Amari Reeves, is a red-shirt cornerback. Both are part of an impressive freshmen class recruited by new head coach Urban Meyer that was recently featured on ESPN.

Because of the large amount of players on the Buckeye roster, Carmen Williams is wearing No. 5, the same one as starting quarterback Braxton Miller.

Ohio State will be playing Michigan State Saturday.

Others playing college football this fall include: Former Oliver Ames standout Billy Greene is a sophomore defensive end for the Westfield State College Owls, while Mitchell Johnson is a junior quarterback at Framingham State. Carlton Williamson, a freshman running back, and Bran Crosby, a freshman cornerback, are on the Springfield College football team. One of the coaches at Springfield is former Foxborough High standout Ken Goodwin, who works with the linebackers. Dan Shanis is a junior linebacker at Bridgewater State University.
