Easton Fire Department: Man Hit With Nail Shot By Nail Gun

Easton Fire Department treated a Solar Seal/Shaw Glass employee who was shot by a nail gun Thursday night.

At 9:14 p.m. Thursday, the Engines 2 and 4 and ambulance 2 responded to Solar Seal/Shaw Glass at 55 Bristol Drive for a 911 call the reported a worker had been shot by a nail from a nail gun.

Upon arrival, the paramedics found a 41-year-old male patient with a three nail
embedded in his chest.

The patient was quickly accessed and moved to the ambulance where
paramedics hegan work to stabilize the patient with assistance of the
departments medical control physician.

Med flight was called, but the decision was made to transport by ambulance to Boston Medical Center. The ambulance, however, diverted to the Good
Samaritan Hospital when the patients condition worsened.

The patient was later transfer Boston Medical Center by helicopter, where
he was going to undergo surgery to remove the nail and and repair internal
damage.

The employee of Shaw Glass was working with an air operated nail gun
assembling a wooden crate to secure glass panes for transport when the
accident occurred. The exact cause of the accident was not readily known.

Dr Crowley, the medical control physician for Easton Fire stated that
paramedics Charlie Snow and Mike Green did an outstanding job at
providing care to the victim.
