Updated: Foxborough Resident Killed in Fatal Car Accident Reported in Easton
The single car-crash took place on Foundry Street in Easton Saturday night.
Easton and Massachusetts State Police are investigating a reported fatal motor vehicle accident that took place on Foundry Street/Rte. 106 Saturday night.
Easton police and Massachusetts State Police said the accident took place at 285 Foundry St.
The victim is currently identified as 76-year-old Frederick L Haarer Jr. of 16 Richard Street Foxborough. The incident remains under investigation.
Just prior to the accident police received a call reporting an erratic operator on Route 106.
Moments later, the crash was reported via numerous 911 calls. An Easton Police investigation revealed that the vehicle traveled off the road and hit the guardrail.
The vehicle then reentered the road, crossing both lanes and struck a utility pole. The pole was knocked down and the vehicle came to rest against a large tree.
Easton Fire and Rescue responded the scene, used the jaws of life to extricate the victim and the operator of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by regional medical director Dr. Crowly.
The operator is believed to have a medical history, which is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The roadway was shut down for a brief period and the utility pole was replaced.
