Fire at Elise Circle Sends Elderly Man to Hospital
An elderly Easton man is at Massachusetts General Hospital after a fire sent officials to the scene Friday
An elderly Easton man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston Friday with serious injuries after a fire struck one of Easton's elderly housing complexes.
Fire Chief Tom Stone said rescue workers arrived at the blaze at approximately 3 p.m. and, after using thermal imaging cameras to make their way through the smoke, Fire Captain James Walsh and Firefighter Rick Salve pulled the man out of the fire.
"The firefighters did a good job getting him out of there," Stone said. "If we had arrived a few minutes later it could have been much different."
The man, who was not identified for confidentiality purposes, was transported by a West Bridgewater ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital and then quickly transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.
A spokesperson for Massachusetts General would not release the identity or condition of the victim at this time.
Stone said the cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal and is undetermined at this time. He said no firefighters or other complex residents were injured in the fire.
