Five Car Easton Accident Sends Four to Hospital Friday

A multi-car accident held up traffic on Foundry Street during the Friday afternoon commute.

A five car motor vehicle accident on Foundry Street Friday afternoon sent two adults and two youths to the hospital.

All injuries appeared minor, Easton Fire Captain David Beals said.

Beals said all vehicles involved were traveling eastbound just east of Five Corners at approximately 4 p.m. After the first collision, a chain reaction occurred with multiple rear-end crashes.

Beals said the front of one vehicle caught fire, but was extinguished by a neighbor prior to the arrival of emergency responders. The operator of that vehicle was able to exit without assistance.

The accident caused a major back-up on Foundry Street. The rush-hour traffic was diverted through Tanglewood Estates.

A West Bridgewater ambulance and a Norton ambulance each transported one patient to Good Samaritan hospital. A Mansfield ambulance transported two patients to Norwood Hospital.
