Jass Stewart Officially Announces Candidacy For State Rep

The Brockton City Councilor will throw his hat in the ring

 

Brockton City Councilor Jass Stewart (D-Brockton) officially announced his candidacy for State Rep in the 11th Plymouth District Sunday.

Stewart, who said he was , said he made his decision when his son told him to "go for it."

"Last week my son, Jajuan, left Brockton for Japan—his first tour of duty in the U.S. military," Stewart said in a statement.

"Right before he left, I asked him what he thought about my possible run for State Rep. He said, 'Go for it. My job is to make sure people have the freedom to vote. Your job is to make sure they have a reason to vote.'

With that said, I am proud to announce my candidacy for Massachusetts State Rep, serving Brockton and Easton. This will be one of the largest undertakings of my life—and one of the most important."

The City Councilor will join (D-Brockton) and Easton native (D) in the race to replace Geraldine Creedon (D-Brockton), who at the end of her term.

The 11th Plymouth District accounts for precincts 1-5 in Easton.
