Letter to the Editor: Vote on Thursday, Sept. 6
The chair of the Democratic Town Committee Urges residents to vote.
I have had the privilege of working on several democratic campaigns in the Town of Easton over the past few months. Recently, I have realized, as I speak with voters in town, that the Commonwealth has not done a very good job of communicating the fact that there is a Primary Election on Thursday, September 6, 2012. In fact, there are three very significant and competitive races in the Democratic Primary that may well impact the residents of Easton.
In the new Congressional District Four Campaign, there are three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination to advance to the November 6th general election. These candidates include Joseph Kennedy, III, Rachel Brown and Herb Robinson. This district is currently represented by Barney Frank who is retiring in January.
In the District Two Governor’s Council Campaign, there are four candidates vying for the nomination: Robert Jubinville, Brian Clinton, Patrick McCabe and Bart Timilty. The Governor’s Council has the important task of reviewing judicial candidates nominated by the governor.
Last, but certainly not least, is the very competitive campaign in the newly drawn 11th Plymouth District which includes several Wards in Brockton and precincts one through five in Easton. This new district is currently held by Representative Geri Creedon who will be retiring in January. The Candidates in this race include Claire Cronin a resident of Easton and Bob Sullivan, Mark Linde and Jass Steward, all from the City of Brockton.
I urge registered voters in Easton to mark down Thursday, September 6th on your calendars, and to take this opportunity to exercise your right to vote on that day.
Craig B. Barger
Chairperson of the Easton Democratic Town Committee
