Periodically, Easton Patch will post updates from Maguire's Bar and Grill owner and Oliver Ames cross country coach Neil Levine's trip to Mount Everest as he delivers supplies to an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal.

During the trek, the Easton resident, along with a group of fellow "trekkers" will reach elevations of 20,000 feet. The group plans carry in over three hundred pounds of supplies, medicines, clothes, and vitamins to the orphanage. For more information on the orphanage, click here. Location: Pheriche

Elevation: 14,200 feet

Today was an acclimatization hike.  Our goal was 15,000 feet.  We felt good and pressed on attempting to make 16,000.  At 15,500 feet the weather changed and we had to turn back.  We moved our base of operations to the village of Pheriche, about a 45 minute hike from Dingboche.  As soon as we hit our lodge, the hail and snow started.  We made the right move turning around.  Our guides, Ganish, Nish and Govidna are brilliant.

Tomorrow should be a challenging day.  We hike to the village of Lobuche at 15,000 feet.  Estimated time 7.5 hours.

Right now the sun is shining and the Himalayas are coated in a fresh layer of melting snow.  It is beautiful.
