Poll: Where in Easton do Drivers Speed the Most?
Last week we asked for your input. Now, we're asking you to vote.
There are always those spots in town where drivers tend to be cruising a bit too fast.
Last week, we asked our readers which roads tended to have the most people speeding. We got some great input and generated some great discussion.
Here is what readers came up with:
- Main Street
- Lincoln Street
- Massapoag Ave
- Randall Street
- Black Brook Road
- Highland Street
Now, we're asking you to vote on where drivers speed the most. Answer out poll below and tell us the most speed-happy street.

Main Street is the worst without question. This is because of people doubling to even tripling the 20 mph posted limit on occassion, there is a limited line-of-site, and the area is congested with car, pedestrians, etc. Do you remember the pedestrian crosswalk signs that were mounted within the crosswalk in front of the Cafe? These were annihilated within 1 to 2 weeks from when they were installed. I will not forget the car that drove through the storefront next to Bill's House of Pizza two winters ago or the woman that jumped the curb at Langwater Farm and hit a tree were I just ran passed no more than ten minutes earlier with my 8 month old in a stroller. If I seem upset about the speeds on Main Street I think its with good reason since my mother-in-law went to cross Main Street in front of the Cafe (crossing from the Cafe) about a year ago when there were no vehicles visible in either direct. She made it about 1/3 of the way across when a speeding car came around the bend in front of the salons and skidded within about 3 ft. of my son in the carriage and my mother-in-law. None of us want to walk on Main Street until something is done about the speeding traffic.

Garrett's right. Too many of us drive too fast on Main St. Two other things about Main St that could be better 1. People blowing through the STOP sign at Lincoln and Main. Every car has to stop at that sign. Stopping behind the car at the sign does not give you the right to continue through without stopping. 2.Too many walkers and runners in the street where there are adequate sidewalks.

Lincoln Street is like a race track for cars and motorcycles at rush hour . I have grand children on this Street and many children along this roadway,i can't help but worry about an accident waiting to happen. 25mph shouild be inforced!!! NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE about this problem. HELP'before someone gets killed..

How about Prospect or Purchase Streets. If you try to drive the speed limit you always have someone tailgating you. I have had cars pass me on both streets because I was only driving the speed limit.

I just crossed Main Street in the crosswalk at The Cafe as I do at least twice a day. The first time I crossed at the crosswalk someone stopped for me and the car behind them blew the horn and yelled at them for stopping at the crosswalk. The second time I crossed at the same crosswalk two cars blew through the crosswalk with me in it and the person in the third car started to slow down and waved their hands at me. I also have people pass me, honk and yell at me if I'm traveling within 4 to 6 mph above the speed limit. A week ago from this past Saturday I had a motorcycle (approx. 7:50 a.m.) rev his engine and ride up on my bumper from when I turned onto Main Street from Sullivan Avenue to Sever Street when he past me on the right and drove up on the next car approximately 400 ft. in front of me is a few seconds. This bike came from Center Street and didn't stop at the four-way stop sign either. I also saw a metallic green Saab go down Main Street in front of the salons traveling at least 50+ mph.
