It wasn't that long ago that Scott Brown, a man from Wrentham who drove a truck, was an underdog in the race for the late Ted Kennedy's senate seat against Attorney General Martha Coakly.

In a race that was watched by the entire country, Brown, a republican, stunned Coakley, the state and the nation, winning the election, 52 percent to 47 percent in a state known for electing democrats.

Now, Brown prepares for a run for re-election. The Boston Globe reported today that he currently has $9.6 million in the bank to campaign and is a frontrunner in a wide field of possible opponents.
