Strong Third Period Leads OA Hockey Past Stoughton

The Oliver Ames hockey team scored four third period goals beating Stoughton 7-0 on Saturday.

 

 

Leading 3-0 heading into the final period, the Oliver Ames Hockey team tripled its lead in the first five minutes of the third, beating Stoughton for the second time this season.

The Tigers went on to score their last goal in the final minute of play, handing the Black Knights a 7-0 loss Saturday at the Asiaf Arena in Brockton.

OA improves to 9-3-3, while Stoughton falls to 1-13-1.

Oliver Ames held a 1-0 advantage after the first period, with Alex Weibeler scoring the goal. Weibeler led the Tigers with 2 goals and 2 assists on Saturday.

Derek Johnson and Dylan Burns scored the two second period goals. Drew Koeppel, Tyler Provost, Weibeler and Mark Auditore scored the third period goals.

Like he did in the first game between the two teams, Stoughton goalie PJ Sheehan faced a barrage of shots from Oliver Ames. Sheehan made 42 saves on 48 shots in 43 minutes of play on Saturday. He has made 104 saves against OA this season. Ethan Rawl made two saves in two minutes of play, while allowing one goal.

Stoughton faces Middleboro at the Bridgewater Ice Arena on Wednesday and will make up their game against King Philip on Friday at the Asiaf.

Oliver Ames hosts Silver Lake on Monday.
