The OA Concert Choir recently performed at the Providence College Choral Festival. The group traveled to Rhode Island on Friday, November 2nd and had the privilege of performing in the college’s beautiful concert hall.
During their performance they sang three songs and had multiple soloists. Their first piece was a traditional hymn called “Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal”. Soloists Katherine Kudcey and Shannon Pender along with Keara Benton and Amanda Urquhart performed “Famine Song”. Finally, their last piece was “Lord, I know I been Changed,” a gospel song that Trevor Nataupsky sang. After their performance, the group was briefly critiqued.
The ensemble did very well and received much praise and some constructive criticism from one of the two clinicians. The clinician David Fryling gave them advice on how to improve their performance and singing technique. After watching the other groups perform, the concert choir left the college and headed back to the high school, but not before stopping for pizza on the way!
Currently, the concert choir is beginning to work on new songs for the quickly approaching holiday season. They are practicing a few classic Christmas and winter songs to sing at upcoming performances.
