The Stoneforge Grille took home top honors for the night.
Business owners, restaurateurs, chefs, and residents gathered at Stonehill College Tuesday night for the sixth annual Taste of Easton conducted by the Chamber of Commerce. In total, 46 local businesses showcased the best they had to offer. Twenty-five exhibitors and sponsors joined the festivities, and 21 restaurants provided samples and munchies. The Oliver Ames jazz band provided entertainment for the night and a percentage of proceeds from the event benefited the Easton Food Pantry. This year, the Stoneforge Grille was named as the best dish winner for its sirloin steak courtesy of chef Vasilios Papas. The 'Forge has come close to winning before, including last year when it was a runner-up to Maguire's Bar and Grille. "We do the steak …

The state's Restaurant and Business Alliance said there was "no sign of opposition" at a hearing this week.
The Joint Committee on Revenue in the Massachusetts legislature held a hearing this week on the notion of a potential meals tax holiday for August and one supporting group liking its chances. Wheaton Farm's Community Gardens held a ribbon cutting ceremony last weekend.
Submitted to Easton Patch: It was still raining at 7:00 Saturday morning, May 11, but by 8:00, the rain had stopped and by 9:30 the sun was trying hard to peek through the clouds. It was going to be a fine day for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the new community gardens at the Wheaton Farm in Easton. “I asked the Great Spirit to shine on us this day”, said Bill Bean, a local Native American who blessed the land before the ribbon to the garden was cut. “This garden is possible because of the community effort put into it”, said Todd Sandstrum, vice chair of the Agricultural Commission. “The gardens are a collaboration between the Easton Agricultural Commission, the Conservation Commission and the Wheaton Farm Committee”, Sandstrum said …

I'm hoping to drive my old beater into the ground before we need to get another car, but I'm on the lookout. What's your next car going to be?
My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B. We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. We're looking for something that gets good gas mileage, and is …
