The Easton Fire Department participated in Ice Rescue Training on Jan. 5 at New Pond. "These types of trainings become increasingly vital to the safety of the citizens of the Town, as well as the firefighters who, at any moment, may be involved in an ice rescue," Firefighter John Dzialo said. The Oliver Ames girls' basketball team remained undefeated in the Davenport Division Tuesday night when it handily beat the Canton Bulldogs, 61-20 to improve to 8-1 on the season. The Tigers will stay on the road Friday when they travel to Foxborough to take on the Warriors.
The Oliver Ames girls' basketball team improved to 2-0 Thursday night at the Nixon Gymnasium when the Tigers beat Duxbury, 47-35. With the loss, Duxbury falls to 0-2. Oliver Ames will move on to play in the Sue Rivard Tournament beginning Tuesday at Oliver Ames.
  Despite being open for a few weeks, Hibernia Irish Pub officially celebrated its grand opening Wednesday night. Live Irish music was played throughout the night and the new pub was greeted with the presence of Senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham) and State Senator Brian A. Joyce (D-Milton). The building was packed from wall to wall with local residents celebrating the new restaurant's open, which was formerly the location of The Blackthorne and The 402. On Friday, Easton held its annual Veterans Day Parade down Main Street to Veterans Memorial Park. The George F. Schindler Post 2547 of the VFW, and American Legion Post 7 led the charge, along with Easton's scouts, Easton Police, the Easton Fire Department and the award-winning Oliver Ames marching band. Easton educators Ed Hands and Hazel Varella also contributed to the ceremonies with speeches about Easton's historical past and veterans.
With fall coming to a close and winter just around the corner, November is the last chance for Easton residents to get out and enjoy the autumn scenery. Perhaps one of the most scenic places in Easton is Borderland State Park, nearly 1800 acres of trails, ponds and fields on the Easton-Sharon line. The Center School PAC ran the first ever Family Fun Day yesterday. Activities included inflatable slides, games, pony rides and pumpkin decorating.
Members from the 22nd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry set up camp at Ames Free Library Saturday. Reenactors participated in training excersises, showed off Civil War artifacts and firearms, and held a fashion show at Queset Gardens.
The 21st Rodman Ride for Kids began in Foxborough on Oct. 1 and came through Easton. The ride is a non-competitive cycling tour each fall, devoted to raising money for at-risk children in Massachusetts. The money that is raised from the event is donated to youth-focused social service agencies in hopes to improve the lives and support for the children.  The ride has raised over $52 million since 1991.
The Easton Cultural Council and Ames Free Library hosted the Annual Lantern Parade Saturday evening. Paraders began at the Easton Historical Society and walked to Queset Gardens behind Ames Free Library. Entertainment included face painting, giant bubble making, food, Jubilate Chorale and children's entertainer Wayne Potash.
The Annual Harvest Road Race was held on Sunday to support the Easton YMCA. The race began at the YMCA on Elm Street and proceeded through a five-mile course in North Easton Village. All proceeds benefited the YMCA, which is a part of the Old Colony YMCA, serving 31 communities in southeastern Massachusetts. The event was also sponsored by North Easton Savings Bank.
Queset Gardens behind Ames Free Library was illuminated Saturday night for a Sweet 16 birthday party, courtesy of Nelson Cruz Entertainment. Cruz said approximately 50 16-year-olds "had the time of their life." In a press release, the Easton business said Cruz's "vision for this client included LED uplights to highlight the structural elements of the house, intelligent dance floor lighting, an LED DJ booth with a blue glow to match the nautical theme of the event and off course state of the art sound with one of his most requested DJ’s.  The guest danced under the stars all night as they …

Over 40 teams, including eight Easton teams, participated in the annual Don Charis Memorial Tournament at Militia Park this past week. Teams participated in four divisions.
Submitted to Easton Patch The 2011 Safe Grad Night enjoyed its 15th year of success on June 5.  Approximately 200 new Oliver Ames graduates returned to campus en masse to enjoy an all-night extravaganza sponsored and funded by the Easton community. The graduates were kept busy all night by trying to outdo each other on the mechanical bull, the bungee run, obstacle course and the cash cube.  They lined up to create their own crazy dvd’s at the boogie heads or just crammed themselves and their friends into an old-time photo booth. “It was great being together as a class one last time.  And I …

From Stonehill College: A total of 603 students walked across the stage to receive their diplomas at Stonehill’s 60th Commencement on Sunday. Keynote speaker Mary Richardson told this year’s class to never be afraid to dream and strive for excellence. She assured them of how lucky they were to be a part of the Stonehill family and that the achievement of obtaining their degrees is something no one can ever take away from them. Easton 6-year-old Jamison Levine, who donated over 200 coloring books to victims in Japan last month, is now receiving photos from the children she set out to help. Jamison received two sets of photos from two different groups in Japan that had received her coloring books. One of the groups sent a letter to Jamison, which was translated to english. Thank you very much for your gift for us. We really appreciate and so do all the kids. Kids were really happy when they got the coloring books. There are 400 people evacuated and are staying here together. Now we are fighting to make this through. …
