Lantern Parade on the Horizon
1. The Friends of Borderland State Park is hosting a movie night on Sunday at 6 p.m. Bring the whole family to the ornate, two-story library of the Ames Mansion for a free showing of the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz,” starring Judy Garland. Admission and refreshments for this event are free; the Friends gratefully accept donations. Parking is also free and will be in front of the Ames Mansion. 2. Summer Drop-in Days are a series of fun, educational events held each summer in the Wild Place, the Museum’s outdoor learning center. On Thursday, the Children's Museum in Easton is hosting Come meet a variety of dogs—some that perform important service jobs and others who can do some pretty funny tricks.
3. The Easton Recreation Children's Races will be held at Fromingtham Park Thursdays until Aug. 22 for ages two to 12 at 6 p.m.
4. Easton’s Lantern Parade is coming back this August for the third year in a row. The event, which is scheduled for Aug. 17, will feature colorfully decorated lanterns lining the streets in the hands of their creators from the old railroad building (now the Easton Historical Society) to the back of the Ames Library. 5. From the Easton Council on Aging newsletter reports the next PediCare clinic will be Thursday, Aug. 29, in the hobby room of the the Keefe Community Center at Parker Terrace. Make your check for $29 payable to Pedicare Service LLC. For an appointment, call 508-238-3160.
