Celebrate Local Winter Activities at NRT's 2nd Annual Winter Expo!

In the colder months, many families head indoors until the warmer weather arrives or head north for downhill skiing, but did you know there are many great winter activities you can enjoy locally? Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, winter trail hiking, tracking, and sledding are just a few of the fun recreational options that are available to families at many places all winter, including at NRT’s Sheep Pasture.

From 10 am – 2 pm on January 25, 2014 the Natural Resources Trust of Easton will be hosting its 2nd annual Winter Expo at NRT’s Sheep Pasture on Main Street to celebrate the local opportunities for outdoor winter recreation. A great day of family fun, the Winter Expo will highlight some of the many outdoor activities that can be enjoyed by everyone right in our area.

Fun is planned throughout the day for visitors of all ages. The popular Boston Snow Dogs dog sledding group will be on hand at the Expo to demonstrate sled dog training techniques and allow visitors to meet real sled dogs. Ice carving demonstrations by Images in Ice will be held from 11 am – 1 pm and at the same time visitors can also meet the team of AMP 103.3 radio! The station will be hosting on site contests and giving away prizes to many lucky visitors that day.

In addition to the special demonstrations planned, many other family-friendly activities will be going on at the Winter Expo. Free arts and crafts projects and an outdoor fire pit will be available all day. Weather permitting, sledding, free snowshoe trials, winter nature hikes, and snowman building are all planned as well.  To help everyone stay warm and toasty, food and warm drinks will be available for purchase at the event. Most activities and demonstrations will be held outside, so snow boots and warm jackets are encouraged!

The NRT Winter Expo is a snow or shine event; in case of severe weather, the event will be moved to Saturday, February 1st, and event information will be posted on NRT’s website at www.nrtofeaston.org. Admission and parking for Winter Expo at NRT’s Sheep Pasture are free, as are most activities. The Expo entrance is located at 261 Main Street in Easton, MA. Leashed pets are welcome to attend Expo with their people.
