Easton Cultural Council accepting grant proposals
The Easton Cultural Council is currently accepting grant proposals from artists and other cultural institutions whose work impacts the citizens of Easton. Organizations, schools, or individual artists interested in grants need to complete applications, which must be postmarked by October 15, 2013. Applications may be downloaded at
www.mass-culture.org/Easton and should be mailed to Easton Cultural Council, 136 Elm St., N. Easton, MA, 02356. Applications are also available at the Ames Free Library and at Easton Town Hall.
In years past, the Cultural Council has funded projects such as art exhibits, music festivals, performances in schools, workshops, lectures, and nature and history programs. This year, the Cultural Council received about $6,000 to distribute, which is an increase in funding from recent years. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which then allocates funds to each local council.
The Easton Cultural Council is part of a grass-roots network of 329 local councils that serve every city and town in Massachusetts. The program is the largest, most decentralized of its kind in the United States.
