Raynham's Charles Barnes Inducted into BC High's Hall of Fame

Charles Barnes of Raynham has been inducted into Boston College High School's Hall of Fame. The school honored Chuck and four other athletes at a dinner at the Hunter-Fahey Commons on November 26, 2013.

Chuck '95 was chosen for his outstanding swimming career, Matt Greene '04 for hockey, RJ Ryan '95 for basketball and football, Tim Bulman '01 for football, Mark Dennehy '86 for hockey and the 2001 Baseball team.

“At BC High,” said Coach Sue Riley, “Chuck was swimmer of the year two years in a row and helped the team go undefeated in that 1995 season. That same year Chuck set the state record in the 100 Butterfly in the South Sectionals. He also set the State Record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.07. He finished his career with Six first place finishes in the State Meets and was Catholic Conference MVP for all 4 years.

“A popular team mate I would be remiss if I did not mention the medley relay group of Chuck, Rich Travers, Lee Garrison and Mike Schulte. That group helped the team win the South Sectionals in Chuck’s senior year 199 to 144 – a decisive victory to say the least.”

Chuck went on to Brown University and he has already been inducted into their Hall of Fame.

He is a 3 time MVP of the Ivy League Chanpionships. Chuck was also named One of the Top 100 Brown University athletes of the Century. Chuck competed in Olympic Trials in 4 events, placing 12th at the Olympic trials in the 200 Backstroke.
