Boy Injured in Zip Line Fall Passes Away

Bristol County District Attorney's Office has reported that Matthew Cox, who was critically injured in a zip line accident in Easton last month, has passed away Friday afternoon.

Emergency medical personnel were called to 4 Shagbark Road shortly after 11 a.m. Dec. 26 for a report of a boy seriously injured. The revealed that the 10-year-old boy, of Saco, Maine, was playing on a zip line that was tied between two trees. While riding along the zip line, it became apparent that one of the trees the line was connected to was giving way. The boy jumped off the line and attempted to flee from the area, but was struck by the collapsing pine tree.

The boy, who was visiting family in Easton for the holidays, was rushed to Good Samaritan's Hospital in Brockton before being transferred to Children's Hospital in Boston.

ABC6 News reports that the family removed him from life support a few hours ago.
