Easton's Lantern Parade Coming Up, Workshops Still Going

Easton’s Lantern Parade is coming back this August for the third year in a row.

The event, which is scheduled for Aug. 17, will feature colorfully decorated lanterns lining the streets in the hands of their creators from the old railroad building (now the Easton Historical Society) to the back of the Ames Library.

Children are encouraged to come to workshops this month, in which they’ll be able to build and deocarte their own lanterns for the parade., the first at The Village Toy Store on Aug. 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the Natural Resources Trust of Easton will have on-going workshops during camp sessions.

There will be popcorn, live music and face painters after the parade. If it rains on that day, the parade will instead head for the Oakes Ames Memorial Hall.
