Visit an Historic Mansion, Cheer at a Wiffleball Tournament of Attend a Lantern Parade

Wiffleball Tournament: School on Wheels of Massachusetts will be holding its first Wiffleball tournament to support the education of children in the community whose lives have been impacted by homelessness. Spend a fun day routing on local teams in both the fast and slow pitch divisions or the home run derby. This family-fun event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, Easton Youth Baseball Field, Militia Park, 186 Lincoln St. First pitch at 9 a.m.

Easton Lantern Parade: the Easton Lantern Parade returns this Saturday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring their own decorated lanterns and join in the march that will begin at the Easton Historical Society (the old RR building) on Sullivan St. and end at the Ames Library. There will also be music, popcorn, soda and face painters!

Mansion Tour: The Ameses & Women's Rights: discover Oakes and Blanche Ames' involvement in the struggle for women's rights on this 30-minute guided tour on the first floor of the Ames Mansion within Borderland State Park. View some interesting suffrage artwork and political cartoons. Saturday, August 17, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, noon. For adults and older children. Meet in front of the mansion, rain or shine. FREE.

Book Signing, W.B.J. Williams: Annie's next local-author book signing will be held from 1-3 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 17, for W.B.J. Williams. Williams will be signing copies of his new fantasy book, 'Garden at the Top of the World.' The book's official publishing date is August 30, but Annie's has received special dispensation to do an early release. Be the among the first to obtain your signed copy of this very special edition! Yard Sale: the popular HGTV series 'Flee Market Flip' has inspired many "novice flippers" to transform yard sale finds into unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Visit this Easton Yard Sale on, Saturday, Aug. 17, throughout the morning, at the newly opened Bright Stars Preschool at 240 Washington St., Easton. Toys, DVDs, Women's accessories, baby and household items. There will also be a lemonade stand for the kids and thirsty adults! Tours of the new preschool will be available for anyone who is interested.

Movie at the Mansion: On Sunday, Aug. 18, 6-8 p.m., the Ames library in Borderland State Park will be transformed into an old fashioned movie theatre. This week's movie is the family favorite, 'The Wizard of Oz.' Space is limited. To reserve a seat, call Paul or Ellenor at 508-238-6566. Rain or shine. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Food and snacks will be available for a small donation.

Tour the Town Offices at Home: take a tour of Easton's town offices from the comfort of the couch or desk through Easton Community Access Television. Two new episodes tour the taown offices, also known as Wayside, with town administrator David Colton and Easton historian Hazel Varella. The history of the building is discussed as well as the current use of the building as the Town Offices.
