Joyce Announces Hearing for Transportation Bond Bill

BOSTON – Senator Brian A. Joyce has announced that the Senate Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets will hold a hearing on the Transportation Bond Bill on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. in Room B-1 of the State House. As currently written, the bill authorizes $12.7 billion in potential spending on transportation and infrastructure projects over the next five years.

“The Transportation Bond Bill is a critical economic development, job creation and infrastructure support bill,” said Joyce. “It will provide necessary funding for local municipalities and outline the state’s potential transportation and infrastructure investments for the next five years.”

Bond bills provide spending authorizations for the executive branch of government and outline what projects can receive state funding. The current bill contains spending authorizations for many large projects including South Coast Rail, Chapter 90 funding for municipalities, the Green Line extension, MDOT asset management reforms, and more.
