Blizzard Watch Issued in Easton

The National Weather Service is warning Easton residents of high winds and high snow totals.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard watch for Easton and the surrounding area from Friday morning through Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a blizzard watch means:

A blizzard watch means there is a potential for considerable falling and/or blowing snow with sustained winds or frequent gusts over 35 mph and visibilities below 1/4 mile for at least three hours. White out conditions will be possible..making travel very dangerous. Be prepared to alter an travel plans.

The Weather Service is predicting that it will begin snowing after 10 a.m. Friday. Gusts of wind could reach as high as 33 mph in the Shovel Town by Friday evening.

Channel 7's Pete Bouchard is predicting 16-25 inches in and around Easton.

We're talking about a memorable storm here," he wrote in his blog Wednesday night. "All the ingredients have fallen into place to make it both epic and eventful for Eastern Mass. Last night, we were looking for that missing ingredient to tip the scales to 2 feet, and this morning, it showed up on the weather maps. The storm will deepen and cut-off east of Cape Cod. This will cause it to stall for about 6 hours, hammering us with snow and wind."
