Easton Grange Adds Four New Members

(From the Easton Garage)

Four new members were added to the Easton Grange #196 at this past meeting. Carmen McNamara of McNamara Farms in Stoughton, Fred Kenyon of Brockton and Sally Zussman and Lisa Hadley of Easton, all were obligated in an historic ritual that preserves memories of the past two centuries.
Master Ryan Cook oversaw the ceremony under the watchful eye of State Grange officials.
Easton was congratulated on its rapid membership growth and the many agricultural projects it has going.
A special feature of Grange meetings has been a soprano solo by Lisa Hadley with music background provided by Ernest Smith.
The Grange Garden plot at Wheaton Farm is flourishing and members of the public are invited to visit that Bay Road site.
Grange Garden Chair, Ed Hands, informed the gathering that over fifteen different vegetables have been started. There are a couple of experimental efforts with sweet potatoes and standard white potatoes being raised in old auto tires.
One raised bed has been named "Melanie's Lane" in memory of our recently lost Melanie Deware, who was an officer of the Grange and served as the Lady Assistant Steward.
A public on site presentation is planned in the near future that will give instruction on organic gardening techniques. For information about the Easton Grange or its projects, call Lee Williams at 508 297 0300.
