Fireworks, Road Races, Set for Fourth of July Celebrations Near Easton

With Independence Day celebrations around the corner, Easton residents can expect plenty of celebrations and activities in the area.

In Foxborough, the Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 5K/10K will take place on July 3rd at Gillette Stadium.

The 5K will start at 5:30 p.m. and take runners around the Gillette Stadium property and into the stadium about halfway into the race before finishing at the 50 yard line.

At 6:30, the 10K race will take runners on a new course which uses less roads around Foxborough but takes the 10K race into the stadium for the first time. Like previous years, the race will leave the property through the access road to North Street but runners will take a left instead of a right. The course takes runners down North, left on Young, and right on Edwards before turning around and heading back towards the stadium.

Like the 5K, runners will complete the end of the race by running up to the 300 level of the stadium before coming back down and entering the field though the visitor’s entrance.

Before the road races, there will be a fun run at 3  p.m. on the stadium field for children 12 and under. Children six and under will compete in 50-100 yard races while children over six will race around the stadium field.

Online registration ends at 9 a.m. on July 1 but in-person registration is open though the day of the race at the Fitness Fair/Expo.

After the race, everyone is invited to enjoy a fireworks display at 9 p.m. above Patriot-Place.

The Independence Day celebration in Sharon starts on July 3 at 4 p.m. with the bicycle and doll carriage parade.

The lakeside celebration at Lake Massapoag begins at 4:30 p.m. with food, carnival games, a climbing wall, and even a pie eating contest.

The night ends with fireworks over the lake at 9:30 p.m.

Stoughton will also be having an Independence Day celebration Wednesday night at the high school. There will be music and a carnival before the fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
