Easton Lions to Host 14th Annual Golf Tournament

Residents can volunteer for the Sept. 29 event in a number of different ways

If you've been to a community event, festival, or parade in Easton, there is a good chance the event was hosted, co-hosted, or sponsored by what is perhaps the Shoveltown's most visible civic and charitable organization: The Easton Lions Club.

"The Easton Lions Club was rated the number one Lions Club in the country [in 2008]," said Lions Club member Kevin Williams. "We have a tremendous reputation and the club is very, very active as you know. We’re into everything."

Now, as has been the case for the past 13 years, the Lions Club is asking the community to give back. And, in true Lions Club fashion, the fundraiser will be in the form of a community event.

Local businesses and organizations will also be involved through a raffle at the end of the event.

Williams, who is organizing the event, said residents can play golf, donate to the raffle, or just volunteer for the day. He said anyone interested should call him at RBC Wealth Management: 508-230-8960.

"Just give me a ring and if they’d like they can come up and volunteer," he said. "We’ll put them on the list. We just need registrations in by Sept. 24 so we can get a headcount."

An original version of this article said the cost was $50 per person. The actual cost is $150. Patch regrets the error.
