Maplewood To Host Open House This Weekend

Event will be 10 a.m. Sunday

, located at 150 Foundry Street in South Easton, Mass., will host a free open house on Sunday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is the last in a series of open houses this season for parents
who are looking to place their children in a summer program.

“We still have some openings for our summer camp, which starts June 25,” says Lee Pinstein, co-founder of Maplewood with his sister, Susan Reardon. “But parents need to decide soon to ensure there’s a slot for their children.”

At the open house, parents and kids aged 4-14 are invited to learn about Maplewood’s expanded summer camp program and enjoy a day of family fun, including boating, kayaking, moonwalks, arts & crafts, ice cream, gaga ball, face painting, gymnastics, rock climbing, and more.

“Our focus at Maplewood has always been on fitness, creativity, and fun,” says Pinstein. “We are trying to put the fun back in fundamentals and also instill strong values in our campers. We’ve always strived to be good corporate citizens and set a good example by supporting worthy local causes.”

Says Reardon, “Since our parents opened Maplewood almost 50 years ago, we have served tens of thousands of kids and many community nonprofits. This has included partnerships with local charities, event sponsorships, and opening our facility as a meeting site for local organizations.”

Upcoming community activities involving Maplewood include the following:

DJ Dream Fund: May 19

Maplewood will host a Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 19 to support the DJ Dream Fund, a scholarship established in memory of Danroy Henry, Jr. (DJ), who attended high school in Easton. The fund helps local students in need participate in wellness programs, summer camps, and athletic activities. The event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature activities including boating, rock climbing, gymnastics, face painting, a football obstacle course, field sports, moonwalks, and zumba. Tickets, which include all activities and lunch, are $10 per person or $30 per family of up to six members, and all proceeds will support the DJ Dream Fund. Hearts at Play: June 3

Maplewood is hosting a Hearts at Play Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 3, from 1:00- 5:00 p.m. The event will feature games and field sports, rock climbing, gymnastics, arts & crafts, boating, moonwalks, face painting, and more. Hearts at Play (www.heartsatplay.org) is committed to raising money to help children with congenital heart defects. Proceeds will benefit Children’s Hospital in Boston. Among the organizations Maplewood has supported in the past are the Children’s Museum of Easton, local mom’s clubs, the MS Society, local youth sports teams, Mansfield Elementary School Association, Foundation for Excellence in Education in Easton, local school PTOs, Easton Recreation Department, and many other local groups, events, and charities.
