Creating local jobs in Easton and Brockton

With only two weeks to the September 6 primary, I wanted to start sharing more ideas on how we can move the 11th Plymouth District forward. 
 
As you know, this year’s election represents the first time in nearly 20 years that the district has an open seat. It's an excellent opportunity to bring new ideas to the table, to do things differently, and to do them better. 
 
As your State Representative, I will prioritizes five areas of work: 1) creating local jobs; 2) easing your tax burden; 3) controlling the cost of healthcare; 4) keeping our neighborhoods safe; and 5) making college affordable. 
 
With this post, I want to focus on jobs.
 
One of my first actions as your State Representative will be to create a Jobs Now Taskforce, dedicated to finding, attracting, and creating jobs exclusively for the district.
 
On the team, you will find some of the smartest and most able business leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders. You’ll also find trusted economists and policymakers.
 
This expert panel will be charged with presenting strong ideas on how to best support existing businesses, as well as strategies to engage the district’s next generation of industries.
 
The taskforce will also conduct a serious analysis of the district’s workforce to make sure we are ready to compete in our nation’s economy.
 
The reality is, we don't know what the economic opportunities are for the district. Because there's no plan, there's no action.
 
The Jobs Now Taskforce will clearly lay out what businesses are likely to come to the area based on our infrastructure and workforce, what we need to do to make the district more attractive to these industries, and provide a road map for aggressively marketing the district to government agencies and the private sector.
 
I am the only candidate in the race for State Representative with a serious plan for job creation.
 
As a City Councilor at Large in Brockton, I commissioned the "Jobs Working Group" and the "Education Working Group."
 
Both groups conducted extension research outlining how to identify and act on Brockton's best bets for economic growth.

The district's new Jobs Now Taskforce will build on this research, with a specific focus on creating good-paying jobs for Easton and Brockton residents in the 11th Plymouth District.
