Ellen Elizabeth (McGranachan) McCarthy, a longtime resident of Easton passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 after a period of failing health, surrounded by her loving family at age 81.
Ellen was born in Boston on June 15, 1931, a daughter of the late William and Lillian (Merrill) McGranachan, she was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School in South Boston.
Some of Ellen's fondest memories are of her days working at Kmart, bowling with her friends, spending a short time in Arbors in Stoughton, her Wise potato chips, and many wonderful trips and times shared with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Ellen is survived by 6 children who she raised unselfishly, William McCarthy and his wife Peggy of Moultrie, GA., Paul McCarthy and Liz Turner of Easton, James McCarthy of Easton, John "Jack" McCarthy and his wife Kelly of Oxford, MaryEllen Puzzo and her husband Michael of Danville, NH., and Donna Marsh and her husband Jack of Taunton; her siblings, Robert McGranachan and Edna McGranachan both of Norton; and she was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Gerard McGranachan, Patricia Rallis, Lillian McGranachan and William McGranachan
