Remembering Wayne E. Benson

Wayne E. Benson, 73, a lifelong resident of Easton and proprietor of Benson Enterprises of Easton, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at home after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Deborah A. Darling and former husband of Joan (Ordway) Miner of St. Croix. Born in Brockton, Dec. 20, 1938, a son of Phebe (Woodward) Benson of Easton and the late Robert Benson, he was raised in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. For 55 years, he had been the proprietor of Benson Enterprise of Easton, a company specializing in excavation and precast concrete. He was a member of the National Precast Concrete Association. A classic car collector of Lincoln Continentals, he enjoyed the outdoors. In addition to his mother and former wife, he is survived by two sons, Carl E. Benson of Easton and Wayne E. Benson Jr. and his wife Judi of Easton; and two grandchildren, Eric Benson and Julia Benson, both of Easton.
