William M. Furlong, 92, a lifelong resident of Easton, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at home under the care of his family. He was the husband of Edith (Peterson) Furlong for 65 years.
Born in Easton on November 30, 1920, a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Moran) Furlong, he was raised in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. A veteran of WWII, William served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant and was the recipient of the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Stat Medal and the Purple Heart.

Upon discharge William worked as a tool & dye maker until his retirement at the age of 64. He was a life member of the Easton Rod & Gun Club and his hobbies included both fishing and hunting.
In addition to his wife Edith, he is survived by two daughters, Helen Cameron of Painted Post, NY., and Mary Furlong of Killington, VT.; a brother, Edward Furlong of Easton; a sister, Monika Furlong of San Diego, CA.; two grandchildren, Scot Furlong of PA. and Eric Cameron of TN.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Rita Furlong.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in William's memory may be sent to the Easton Food Pantry, 136 Elm Street, Easton, MA. 02356.
