Jane D. Gioisa, 92, Fmr. Employee at Brockton Hospital

Jane D. (Quick) Gioiosa, age 92, of Easton, died Jan. 8 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Albert J. Gioiosa.

Born April 30, 1921, in Denver, Colo., she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Margaret (Moberly) Quick. In 1931 Jane moved to Trenton, Mo., and in high school was a runner-up in the Miss Missouri beauty contest.

She completed her education and in 1941 met Albert Gioiosa of Milton, a Marine recruiter. They married on April 5, 1942 when the war was over and Albert returned to Trenton from the islands.

In 1946 they moved to Massachusetts, which was Albert's home. For many years, Jane had been employed at Brockton Hospital as a secretary, and then worked there in Medical Records. She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother.

Jane had a sharp mind and wit, and was an avid poker player and Red Sox fan. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting and baking, and receiving e-mails from family. She loved animals and had a very kind heart.

Jane leaves her daughters, Nancy of Lakeland, Fla., and Mary of Brookline; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Petsch of Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Martha Swanson and David.

Visiting hours were held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), Brockton, Sunday, Jan. 12, 2 to 5 p.m. A funeral Mass was held in St. Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Monday at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial in Milton Cemetery.
