Obituary: Bernice T. Christensen

Bernice T. (White) Christensen, 80, a resident of Easton for the past 46 years, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at Bayointe Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a period of failing health.

She was the wife of Francis E. Christensen for 53 years. Born in Boston on Aug. 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Vernon and Alice (Sharkey) White, she was raised in West Roxbury and was a graduate of St. Josephs Academy in Roxbury. Bernice was employed as a secretary for Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company for 20 years and she enjoyed her position as a playground aid at the Parkview School in Easton for several years.

Devoted to her family, Bernice treasured time spent with her grandchildren. She had many memories of her trip to Hawaii, she was an avid New England Patriots fan and her hobbies included walking and nature.

In addition to her husband Francis, she is survived by three daughters, Mary Clark and her husband Barry of Easton, Susan Woodhouse and her husband Mark of Duluth, Ga., and Maureen Napolitano and her husband Michael of Easton; a brother, Vernon White of NH.; a sister, Ginger Devlin of N.H.; her step-siblings, Andrea Hourihan of Walpole and Lenny White of Mansfield; and her grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Amy, Christopher, Ryan, Julia, Joseph, and Olivia. She was also the sister of the late Barbara Finn and Maryellen White.

Visiting hours were on Friday, Sept. 27, morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, Easton at 10 a.m. Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15 p.m. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in Bernices memory may be sent to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA. 02368.
