Obituary: Donald T. DeGrandis, 58, resident of Easton for 24 Years

Donald T. DeGrandis, 58, a resident of Easton for the past 24 years, died Thursday morning, Dec. 5, 2013, at home under the care of his family. He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Foley) DeGrandis for 31 years.

Born in Boston, March 23, 1955, a son of the late Guido and Alma (Shulokin) DeGrandis, he was raised in Roslindale and was a 1972 graduate of Roslindale High School, where he played both football and basketball. Mr. DeGrandis began his working career with Spears Associates of Norwood, where he met his wife, and Honeywell Corporation of Westwood. After, he took a position in food distribution with Stop & Shop Warehouse and was a member of the Teamsters Local 25 of Charlestown.

A communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church of Easton, he was a volunteer with the church youth group. Mr. DeGrandis was a former Easton Girls Softball coach for several years and also served as an assistant coach for Easton Pop Warner Football. A member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1308 of Roslindale, he was an active sports enthusiast who played in several softball and dart leagues in the Boston area. An avid Boston sports fan, his hobbies included lifelong camping at Sebago Lake in Maine and fishing.

In addition to his wife Kathleen, he leaves two daughters, Diana and Danielle of Easton; his siblings, Marie Paulsen of Lakeville, John of Palm Coast, Fla., Robert of Attleboro, Michelle Sora of Tucson, Ariz., Michael of San Diego, Calif., and Paul of Kissimmee, Fla.; his in-laws, David and Theresa (Barrett) Foley of Franklin; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.

The funeral was held from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, Monday, Dec. 9, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Easton, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were Sunday 3-7 p.m. Donations in Mr. DeGrandis' memory may be sent to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Cancer Care, 330 Brookline Ave. (BR), Boston, MA 02215, or to Rodman Ride for Kids, 10 Lincoln Place, Foxboro, MA 02035.
