Obituary: John E. Thompson, Sr.

John E. Thompson Sr., 65, a resident of Easton for the past 34 years, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Good Samaritan Medical Center after a long illness.

He was the husband of Mary F. (Fennessey) Thompson for 45 years. Born in Boston, Jan. 20, 1948, a son of the late Francis G. and Agnes T. (Kenedy) Thompson, he was raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Roslindale High School.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during peacetime. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Military, he began working for the MBTA and was employed for 25 years with company, working out of Brookline, and retiring in 1997 as a Chief Inspector.

John was a member of the American Legion Post 7 of Easton and the Knights of Columbus Council 238 of Easton. He enjoyed spending winters and traveling to his vacation home in Sebastian, Fla., and his hobbies included restoring Corvettes.

In addition to his wife Mary, he leaves a son, John Jr. of Vero Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Kathleen and her husband Frederic Milliken of Easton; and two grandchildren, Derek John Milliken and Kelly Ann Milliken both of Easton.

The funeral was held from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, Thursday, Oct. 10 at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, Easton, at 10 a.m. Military honors will follow.
