Accident and Car Fire Sends One to Hospital Early Saturday

A motorist suffered a broken leg on Chestnut Street early Saturday after his car hit a pole.

One person was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital early Saturday after their vehicle reportedly struck a pole on Chestnut Street.

Easton Police received a call at 5:37 a.m. reporting a car vs. pole motor vehicle accident. The car had caught fire, but the occupants were out of the vehicle.

Mansfield Police arrived to report the car was fully engulfed and the operator was on the side of the road with a broken leg. The woods on the side of the road began to catch fire and the Easton Fire Department was updated on the situation.

The driver was transported to Good Samaritan and a second occupant was escorted to his home in Stoughton.

Easton Police Arrest Braintree Man for OUI

Easton Police pulled over a driver on Washington Street Saturday at approximately 1 a.m. and subsequently arrested Stephen Woods, 57, of 65 Joseph Road, Braintree for operating under the influence.

He was later released on $1,040 bail.

Suspicious Activity on Depot Street

Easton emergency officials recevied a call at approximately 9:45 p.m. Thursday regarding a motor vehicle accident on Depot Street with a party "stumbling around" outside of the vehicle.

Upon arrival, Easton fire officials reported that there was no accident and the occupant had left.

A State Trooper said the party's vehicle had run out of gas and he was assisted by his father.

Breaking and Entering Reported on Turnpike Street

A Turnpike Street resident called Easton Police Thursday to notify them that their car had been broken into and the glove box was ransacked.

The event likely occurred the night before.

Jewelry Reported Stolen on Lincoln Street

A Lincoln Street resident called Easton Police Thursday to report jewelry stolen from her house. She said the incident might have occurred the week before.
