Easton Firefighters assisted in putting down a fire in Raynham Park just south of the Easton border. The fire was reportedly caused by an arsonist.

Easton firefighters were busy late Monday night assisting in putting down a structural fire at Raynham Park just over the Easton town line.

Easton Firefighter Dave McRae said Easton sent one engine to the scene - which is less than a mile from the town border - after the fire was called in just before 10 p.m.

According to McRae, the fire occurred at a 60x100 unoccupied structure. The structure was located to the northwest portion of the complex.

Arson has been attributed to the burning of more than 10 unoccupied area buildings in recent weeks, including the former location of the Carriage House Restaurant, which was allegedly set on fire Nov. 13. The most recent arson case occurred in Quincy last Tuesday.

State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan urged residents to call the Arson Hotline, which is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program, funded by the property and insurance casualty insurance underwriting companies in Massachusetts. It provides rewards of up to $5,000 for information that helps to solve the crime of arson.

"Investigators believe this fire may be connected to the series of fires we are investigating in southeastern Massachusetts and ask the public to to be vigilant and call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229 with any information they may have about these fires," Coan said in a statement.
