Easton Boy in Critical Condition After Tree Falls on Him

The boy was reportedly playing on a zip line between two trees.

A 10-year-old boy is in critical condition at Children's Hospital after a tree fell on him at 4 Shagbark Road at about 11 a.m. Thursday.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office:

"The initial investigation has revealed that the 10-year-old boy was playing on a zip line that was tied between two trees. While riding along the zip line, it became apparent that one of the trees the line was connected to was giving way. The boy jumped off the line and attempted to flee from the area, but was struck by the collapsing pine tree.

"The boy, who is not being publicly identified at this time, was rushed to Good Samaritan's Hospital in Brockton before being transferred to Children's Hospital in Boston.

"If and when the boy's condition changes, our office will send out a follow up advisory.

"The incident is being treated as a tragic accident at this time," said the DA's office.
