Easton Dispatcher Helps Save Baby

Easton Police dispatcher Jean Amichetti assisted with medical treatment for an ailing baby.

An Easton Police dispatcher's medical knowledge may have saved the life of a baby this week, Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik said.

Krajcik said dispatcher Jean Amichetti received a call from a frantic mother Monday reporting that her seven month old baby girl was not breathing and was turning blue.

After dispatching EMT's and a police cruiser, Amichetti provided potentially lifesaving emergency medical instructions to the mother, Krajcik said.

With Amichetti's help, the mother was able to clear an obstruction from the baby's airway so it could breath on its own. Easton paramedics then brought the baby to Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Krajcik said the baby is now doing well.

"Dispatcher Amichetti did an outstanding job, she is very professional and has received a letter of commendation for her actions," Krajcik said.
