Easton Police Intercept Family's Drug Smuggling Scheme

A family from Taunton allegedly planned to sneak drugs into a prison by hiding them in a senior center.

Easton Police Detectives intercepted a Taunton family’s alleged plan to smuggle drugs into the Bristol County Correctional Facility, they reported in a statement this morning.

The suspects, who were identified as Jose Rocha, 47, his wife Evangelina Rocha, 45, and their son Kyle Rocha, 22, attempted to smuggle the drugs through their other son, Matthew, who is an inmate at the prison.

Easton police detectives were alerted to the plan by the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office yesterday afternoon. The department received information that the suspects would drop off the drugs on Thursday afternoon in the restroom of the Parker Terrace senior housing complex in North Easton and that their relative, who works at Parker Terrace on a work release program, would pick them up the next morning and smuggle them into the prison.

After searching the restroom, Easton police and an investigator from Bristol County staked out the facility. The suspects drove into the complex and entered the community center, leaving about 2 minutes later. Detectives then discovered a condom filled with Oxycodone and Percocet inside the restroom.

The Rochas were stopped and arrested, and are being charged with possession of class B drugs, conspiracy to violate the drug law, conspiracy to deliver narcotics to a prisoner, and possession of Class B drugs with intent to distribute.
