A New Fire Captain and three new firefighters were sworn in by Town Clerk Jeremy Gillis at Monday night's Board of Selectmen meeting.

Captain Lawrence "Larry" Blye, who is from Easton and now lives in Norton with his family, was hired by the Easton Fire Department in January 1987 as a firefighter/EMT, according to an email from Fire Chief Kevin Partridge. Blye's brother Phillip served as a fire captain and chief before him.

The new recruits John McCormick, Larry Machado, and Michael Shulman were also sworn in by Gillis at the meeting and will start next week and go through in an in-house orientation and training. They will attend the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in May.

Welcome! Easton is very proud of our fire, police and EMS. Glad to see we have 3 more firemen. Most people don't realize the firemen are the first to rescue you when you have a medical emergency or accident. They are busy guys and always caring too.
