Fire Department Open House This Saturday

The Easton Fire & Rescue Department is hosting its annual open house this Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Fire Station.

The following is a statement from the Easton Fire Department:

The Easton Fire & Rescue Department is pleased to announce its annual Open House to be held on October 5, 2013 from 1 to 4 PM at Fire Station #1 at 48 Lothrop Street. I would like to take this opportunity to invite the Board of Selectmen and the Town Residents to join us at the Open House.

Last year’s Open House was a big success with over 500 people attending. This year’s event will again have  fire equipment on display, demonstrations of the “Jaws of Life” equipment, a “Stoke Basket” demonstration removing a victim from the roof of the station, Sparkey the Fire Dog, and Smokey Bear, Pizza from Papa Gino’s and other refreshments, and fire hose for young kids to squirt.

The day’s activities give the public the opportunity to meet Firefighters, see the fire department equipment, and ask questions about the department. We also want to share our message of fire safety and how to keep Easton residents safe from fires.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week is October 6 through 12 and the theme is Prevent Kitchen Fires. Cooking is the leading cause of fires and fire injuries in the home in the nation and in Massachusetts.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at our Open House.
