Police: Man Passed Fake $20 Bills at Easton 99 Restaurant

Police arrested Juan Cruz of Norwood last week.

A Norwood man was arrested last week after police said he passed fake $20 bills at the Easton 99 Restaurant.

Juan Cruz, 42, of 82 Casey St., was caught by Boston police and found with $10,400 worth of counterfeit currency in his vehicle, according to Easton police.

Police said on Feb. 26, Cruz paid for one beer at the Easton 99 with a counterfeit $20 bill and made change for three more counterfeit $20 bills. He then went to Owen O’Leary’s in Brockton and passed more fake bills, police said.

Police used security camera footage to identify Cruz and drafted a warrant for his arrest. The investigation involved the Secret Service, police said.
