Resident Reports Truck Stolen By Homeless Man

A car fire and possible B&E's also highlight last week's police log.

An attempted act of kindness reportedly backfired for one Easton resident.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, an Easton resident arrived at Easton Police Station to report that he brought home a homeless man, fed him, and was giving him a place to stay for the night.

After the resident fell asleep, the homeless man stole the resident's truck.

Police entered the stolen truck into the Criminal Justice Information System and a report was filed.

Breaking and Entering Reported at Day Street

A resident arrived at the police station Thursday at approximately 4:30 p.m. to report a past breaking and entering into their home.

Fire Engulfs Vehicle on Main Street

At approximately 1 a.m. Saturday, a 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident and the vehicle was on fire on Main Street.

Easton Fire and Police officials arrived, and police received a second call reporting the vehicle was fully engulfed and nobody was in the vehicle.

Officers reported the fire was not an accident and there was a malfunction while the vehicle was driving. The vehicle was towed after the fire was extinguished.

Possible Attempted Breaking and Entering Reported on Silver Drive

A Silver Drive resident reported a possible attempted breaking and entering. The resident stated the white male attempted to gain entry via the door and was also seen in the back yard.

The officer said that the child of the resident saw the party at the door. There was no attempt to gain entry.
