State Officials Called to Investigate Possible 'Pipe Bomb' in Easton

An alleged pipe bomb turned out to be a false alarm.

State officials were called to the Sunday afternoon  in what turned out to be a false alarm regarding an alleged pipe bomb.

At approximately 2 p.m., an Easton resident arrived at the police station with a threaded pipe with caps on both ends he found in his garage that he thought might be a pipe bomb. The state fire marshal was called and a bomb squad sergeant arrived in the station to determine that the item was not a bomb.

Police received multiple reports Sunday at approximately 1:30 p.m. regarding someone possibly stealing mulch from the high school.

Police responded to the scene to find that the Oliver Ames cross country team was lining its course and preparing the grounds. No police service was needed.

Accident at Turnpike and High Street Sunday

Police and fire officials responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of High Street and Turnpike Street at approximately 11:27 a.m.

Fire officials reported one injury and one person was transported to Good Samaritan Memorial Hospital.

Reports of Shots Fired on Norton Avenue

A Norton Avenue resident called police Saturday at approximately 6:30 p.m. to report shots fired in the area with a handgun, shattering a car window in the area.

An officer arrived and spoke to the caller, but the shooter was not found.

Vehicle Strikes Bus on Washington and Elm Friday

Police and fire officials responded to the corner of Washington Street and Elm Street on Friday at approximately 12:30 involving a school bus. No injuries were reported and no transports were required, but one vehicle was towed from the scene.

Brockton Woman Arrested for OUI Friday

A 21-year-old Brockton woman was arrested for drunk driving at approximately 1:50 a.m. on Turnpike Street Friday morning.

Bridget Kinney, 21, of 382 Moraine Street, Brockton was arrested Friday after officers pulled her over on Turnpike Street. She was released on $40 bail.
